Privacy & Cookies Policy

Updated 14th April 2025

Introduction

This privacy and cookies policy applies to the use of radio station(s), website(s), and mobile application(s) (collectively, the “Services”) provided by SBI MEDIA LTD and/or SUNSHINE RADIO LTD (collectively referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Automatic data collection

Just like all websites and apps, we automatically collect data as follows:

Cookies are tiny text files placed on your computer, tablet or phone whenever you visit a website. Apps also use similar methods to store information on your device.

We use cookies (or similar technologies) on our website(s) and app(s) to remember your preferences/settings (where appropriate), to see which pages you visit, how long you stay on each page and so on. We also track how long you listen to our radio station streams.

Other information that may be available to us (whether via cookies or not) includes your IP address (a rough indication of which part of the world you are visiting us from), your browser (Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, etc.) and your device  (iPhone, Samsung Tablet, Desktop PC, Amazon Smart Speakers etc.).

We use this information to improve our website(s), mobile app(s), and radio station(s) for everyone. Therefore, we look for trends across a large number of people rather than studying the actions of just one user.

Everything above is standard practice for any company looking to improve their services, and the data we collect is for this purpose.

Direct data collection.

When you contact us via email, contact form, or other electronic communication or telephone for any reason, you will, by default, provide us with certain personal information.

In addition, when you fill out a “form,” such as the one on our “contact us” page, you also interact with Google’s reCAPTURE service (providing security for our servers).

You will see a Google logo at the bottom right of your screen on every page where you see any form that could require you to provide personal information (such as your name or email address, etc.). Click this logo to see Google’s current privacy policy when providing this service to us.

When you provide us with personal data, we have the right to use this in good faith to communicate with you and/or supply the services you have requested. We also retain your contact information and our joint communication history.

This information is used internally and will never be sold to third parties.

We will never knowingly share your data with any third party without your permission or add this information to any marketing database unless you have specifically agreed to it.

When you agree to be added to any marketing database, including newsletters, you always retain the right to opt-out anytime. You can do this by using the relevant link at the bottom of any marketing email or by contacting us directly.

Our contact information is at the bottom of this page.

Security of Your Information

We take reasonable measures to protect all direct and indirect information we collect and retain.

“Reasonable measures” means storing data on password-protected computers, hard drives, and/or cloud storage services (such as Google Drive, Apple iCloud, and similar services).

We confirm that your data is likely to be transferred and/or stored using services provided to us by third parties, including companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. In this scenario, we rely on the assurances from our suppliers within their terms and conditions that all data is transmitted and/or secured to a reasonable standard.

Due to the above, data is likely to be transmitted, stored, and/or processed in multiple locations and countries outside the European Union.

You should keep in mind that data protection laws in each location may be different from those applied to us directly here in Cyprus.

Access to Information by Staff, Freelancers, and Third-Party Service Providers

In order to operate our website(s), mobile application(s), radio service(s) and our business, we need to grant access to certain information to our staff, freelancers, and third-party service providers.

Any access granted is strictly limited to what is necessary to allow for website/app maintenance and development, data analysis, customer support, etc.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that our staff, freelancers, and third-party service providers are subject to confidentiality obligations and handle your information in accordance with our internal policies which are based on applicable data protection laws.

Direct links or referrals to third-party services and/or other websites and/or apps:

We may refer you to other people, companies, websites or apps, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and so on.

Referrals may be via our website(s), app(s) or via on-air recommendations.

When you click one of these links, or act upon any suggestion made within our broadcasts, please remember these third-parties have their own privacy policies which are beyond our control.

Children’s Privacy

Our website(s), app(s), and radio broadcasts are not aimed at children under 18.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us, and we will take steps to remove that information.

Choices and Rights

By using sunshineradio.com and/or our mobile application(s) or listening to our radio station(s) online, you must accept that we can and will collect/process certain information under this privacy policy and the relevant legislation.

However, you are always in control and here are your options:

1. Our cookie consent tool allows you to manage your “cookie preferences”. You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings, but please be aware that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website.

2. You can ask us to confirm what data we have on record (subject to stringent security checks) and/or ask us to update or delete your data. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please get in touch (details below) and we will respond to your request following all applicable data protection laws.

3. You can avoid using any of our services.

We will need to update this privacy policy occasionally due to changes in our services, revised best practices, and/or data protection legislation.

We will post the updated policy on this page when we make changes.

We may also provide a more prominent notice where significant changes are made.
